“Blessed be the peacemakers for they shall be called the children of God”. (Matthew 5:9)
The word “peacemaker” is usually defined as someone who resolves a conflict or confrontation.
A peacemaker cannot bring about peace if they do not first understand from where the conflict originates. We cannot fix something if we do not first realize it is broken.
“Peacetime” is strictly an earthly concept. Battles are continuously fought, lives are being lost, and so many are ignorant to this fact.
We live our everyday lives amidst spiritual warfare. Earth is a constant battleground for angels and demons, but the strategies of the enemy’s army do not involve tanks and missiles, they involves bringing forth doubt and fear in our minds to drive a wedge between us and our heavenly Father.
The consequences of this can be subtle or obvious, depending on the battle being fought, but every battle can create a lasting impact.
As children of God we must accept this reality in order to overcome it, with the help of Christ. (John 10:10)
The devil delights in stealing our peace, killing our joy, and destroying our chance at eternal life in heaven.
Unlike the wars of man, spiritual battles are not fought over land and politics, spiritual battles are fought over souls.
The enemy knows that every single soul is worthy of a battle.
Every. Single. Soul.
If we didn’t mean so much to God and weren’t meant for great things, then why would Satan even bother fighting for our souls?
Another important difference between earthly and spiritual warfare is that the enemy can use the people closest to us to create turmoil and strife. The people the enemy works through are not required to volunteer to be a weapon wielded by his army, but their actions and words can be used for evil all the same. (Matthew 7:15)
This chronic state of spiritual attacks has only one cure, the Word of God.
Remember, if you think you have been overlooked by God, it is because the devil is a liar, and you are believing him. There is truly no rest for the wicked, but God has already won the war. (John 16:33) We are on the winning side.
The enemy wants people to deny Jesus and live for themselves. He wants people to forget where their true home lies.
People that do not know God cannot know peace.
We must bring them to peace, by bringing them back to their Shepard.
They don’t understand why they are never completely happy, and they get so focused on trying to find happiness on earth they forget whom they belong to.
It is the job of those of us that know God and His grace, love and mercy to help those caught in the middle of a battlefield to become equipped. (Ephesians 6:11)
Once they know God and understand they only have one true path towards peace and happiness, then we have done our job as peacemakers.
